Watch the trailer for Netflix’s live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender!
By Dan Selcke
Finally, Netflix has dropped a trailer for its live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This beloved Nickelodeon show set in a fantasy world inspired by East Asian cultures has never stopped being popular, probably because it’s just that good. Will the remake live up to expectations? Watch the trailer and judge for yourself:
The first thing that hits me about the trailer is that the show looks really, really good, not to mention authentic. Not only do characters like Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio Tarbell) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) look like plausible live-action versions of their animated counterparts, but even animal companions like the flying bison Appa and the little bat-thing Momo look terrific. After the success of One Piece, another animated show that Netflix made over as a live-action series, I’m way less nervous about Avatar: The Last Airbender than I once was.
Avatar: The Last Airbender will premiere on Netflix on February 22, 2024. For a full accounting of the cast, click here.
Netflix teases the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy
Netflix is releasing a lot of trailers and teasers this week. It’s Geeked Week, don’t you know? That includes a little tease for the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy, Netflix’s show about a dysfunctional family of superheroes. It’s not a proper trailer, just the cast talking about what to expect, but still fun:
We don’t have a firm release date for The Umbrella Academy, all we know is that it’s coming in 2024.
Netflix drops a trailer for a new Shadow and Bone…video game
Netflix also released a trailer related to its fantasy show Shadow and Bone. Unfortunately, it’s not a confirmation of a third season; that remains in limbo. Instead, it’s a trailer for a Netflix-only video game called Shadow and Bone: Enter the Fold.
I’m not entirely sure how you play this game. I looks like you talk to people and maybe manage resources? I don’t think this will placate people waiting for season 3 of the show, but it’s something.
Shadow and Bone: Into the Fold is available to play now, if you’re so inclined.
