8 Game of Thrones characters who overstayed their welcome

3. Joffrey Baratheon
Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) is another one of the most hated characters on Game of Thrones. Viewers meet Joffrey in the first episode of the series, and for a short time, it seems like the charming young prince might be one of the good guys. However, after what happens between Joffrey, Sansa, Arya, and the direwolves on the way to King’s Landing, it becomes clear that Joffrey might not just be awful, but also evil, as well.
There are so many truly deplorable actions Joffrey takes over the course of four seasons, including the death of Ned Stark, everything he does to Sansa, and more. It’s a shame he lived as long as he did. I think we were all rooting for his death well before it actually came.
Thankfully, Joffrey meets a fitting end by dying during his own wedding reception after marrying Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). He was poisoned by Lady Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) in one of the best and most gruesome deaths of the series. He dies in his mother’s arms.
My one issue with Joffrey’s story was how few redeeming qualities he actually had. When cruelty is a character’s main motivation, it’s not exactly the most enjoyable thing to watch on TV.
