8 Game of Thrones characters who overstayed their welcome

1. Ramsey Bolton

Ramsey Bolton comes in at No. 1 on almost everyone’s list of the most hated characters of Game of Thrones. I can’t even list all of the atrocities Ramsey committed over the course of four seasons of the series.

It wasn’t that Ramsey was awful and did terrible things to Theon, Sansa, and literally everyone else he interacted with. It’s that he was kept around for four seasons! Not even just kept around; he thrived in his role for a long time. Until his death in “Battle of the Bastards” in season 6, Ramsey’s scenes were basically unwatchable.

Thankfully, Jon and his allies are able to take back Winterfell after a massive battle which ends in Ramsey’s surrender, of sorts. By that I mean Jon is about to kill Ramsey but sees Sansa watching and decides it’s her who should decide Ramsey’s fate. In one last scene, Sansa reminds Ramsey that he will be forgotten, House Bolton destroyed, and he himself eaten by his own dogs, who haven’t been fed for a few days. They rip Ramsey to shreds.

Overall, it’s a satisfying death, one of the most satisfying in the series, in my opinion, but it comes far too late. Ramsey inflicted far too much pain and damage on the Starks and others in the North with considerable ramifications for the Seven Kingdoms.
