Pedro Pascal in talks to play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four movie
By Ashley Hurst
Between roles in Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian, DC, The Last of Us, and more, Pedro Pascal is the go-to guy for every casting director in Hollywood. Given that he shows up literally everywhere, normally as a protective father figure, it’s actually quite shocking to learn that he hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet… but that’s about to change. According to Deadline, he’s in talks to portray Mister Fantastic in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
Pascal’s involvement isn’t confirmed yet. It is “still being worked out, but multiple sources close to the negotiations are saying it’s headed in the right direction.” The three-time Emmy nominee would portray the highly intelligent and super-stretchy Reed Richards.
The biggest obstacle in the way for Pascal is his packed schedule. He’s got a long shoot ahead of him for The Last of Us season. Plus he’s got a role in Gladiator 2, and also in Zach Cregger’s Weapons, which will shoot in 2024. I don’t envy the person tasked with managing Pascal’s time.
A Fantastic Four movie set within the MCU continuity has been in the works for some time. Of course, we’ve seen a multiverse variant of Reed Richards played by popular fan-cast John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While many fans wanted Krasinski to take on the role full time, it was not to be. The duty now (probably) falls to Pedro Pascal.
There are still no actors announced for the other three members of the superhero team. Any ideas?
Fantastic Four is helmed by WandaVision director Matt Shakman with Josh Friedman (Foundation, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) penning the script. The movie is slated to premiere in May 2025. Whether it sticks to that release window, we can’t know.
