Watch the full trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+
By Dan Selcke
It’s been a huge week for trailers, especially over at Netflix. Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Umbrella Academy, 3 Body Problem, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, Rebel Moon…we got teases for all of them.
Not to be left out, Disney+ has dropped a full trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, its adaptation of Rick Riordan’s popular fantasy books, which continue to this day. The show will adapt the first leg of Percy’s journey, where the teenager learns he’s actually the son of the Greek god Poseidon and sent to Camp Half-Blood, a training facility in Long Island (where else?) where demigods learn to use their powers. Check out the trailer below:
There were a couple of Percy Jackson movies in the 2010s, but they were made at a time when Hollywood wasn’t putting quite as much thought into adaptations of popular book series. Fans hope this new show, with which Riordan is closely involved, is a better reflection of the source material.
Walker Scobell plays Percy, while Leah Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri play his friends Annabeth and Grover. All of them are young actors who could make it big off the back of this show. As for the adults, the cast is pretty stacked. It includes:
- Lance Reddick as Zues
- Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes
- Megan Mullally as Alecto
- Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus
- Jay Duplass as Hades
- Toby Stephens as Poseidon
Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres on Disney+ on December 20.
