The Mandalorian is “ramped up” for season 4 production

It’s been a minute since the finale of The Mandalorian season 3 dropped on Disney+ earlier this year, and still the Grogu-shaped hole in our hearts remains. Season 3 saw Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) team up with fellow Mandalorian Bo Katan-Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) to take back their homeworld of Mandalore. What lies ahead for these proud warriors?

Now that the writers and actors strikes are over, production on season 4, of course! Stuntman and Din Djarin actor Brendan Wayne posted an update to Instagram this week that has stoked fans’ excitement.

“Only one thing is more exciting to me than the strike being over or season 4 of Mando getting ramped up and that is Season 2 of Coach Mando and the Lady Lancers,” Wayne wrote, the context being that the Wayne coaches soccer in his downtime. When a fan asked about The Mandalorian season 4 ramping up, he replied, “next year is my guess.” So the engines are starting to heat up.

The Mandalorian season 4 will likely start production in 2024

Obviously, this is great news. The Mandalorian season 3 expanded the story in some major ways, but the Star Wars television universe is only just getting started on its next big crossovers. The Rosario Dawson-led series Ahsoka brought the villainous imperial commander Thrawn back to the galaxy far, far away. Since Ahsoka and The Mandalorian take place in the same part of the Star Wars timeline, this will likely have a big impact on The Mandalorian season 4.

As for when exactly The Mandalorian will start filming, we’ll be watching out for updates. Wayne is one of the stunt performers who often wears the Beskar suit in the series, but The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal provides voice talents and acting for the Mando as well. With Pascal slated to film The Last of Us season 2 next year, and rumors swirling that he may play Mr. Fantastic in Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie, the guy’s got a busy schedule.

Until we know more, you can stream the first three seasons of The Mandalorian on Disney+.
