Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was one of the surprise fantasy movie gems of 2023. Fans of the long-running tabletop RPG have seen more than a few middling screen adaptations of their beloved franchise over the years, so I don’t think I’m alone in feeling like the movie exceeded expectations. From its adventuring party led by Chris Pine as the bard Edgin and Michelle Rodriguez as Holga the barbarian, to Hugh Grant having the time of his life as the delightfully fun villain Forge, this thing was a blast.

So of course, we want a sequel! Pine recently spoke with Games Radar+ to promote his new animated Disney film Wish, where he plays King Magnifico…but he also dropped a tantalizing hint about the prospect of a Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves follow-up.

“I’ve heard some rumors about it,” Pine said. “But I don’t know anything yet. But I feel pretty confident that it may happen.” When asked whether he would be on board for a sequel, Pine didn’t hesitate: “Absolutely.”

Obviously, this is only a bite-size update. Nothing official has been set yet and Pine can’t speak too much about whatever’s going on behind the scenes. But we’ll take any update about a Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves sequel we can get!

A second film isn’t a foregone conclusion. While the first movie was very well received by both critics and moviegoers, it only had a modest box office return of around $208.2 million globally against its $150 million budget. And that’s not factoring in the cost to promote the movie. “We’ve got to figure out a way to make it for less,” Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins told Variety earlier this year about a second D&D movie, per IGN.

Here’s hoping that Paramount figures out how to do just that so that Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves gets the sequel it deserves.

Next. George R.R. Martin “struggling” with The Winds of Winter. “I still have hundreds more pages to go”. dark
