Fan art: What if Daemon Targaryen sat the Iron Throne?

On House of the Dragon, Daemon Targaryen is a character who is very close to the Iron Throne but who has never sat it himself, much as he’s like to. His brother was the king and his niece Rhaenyra could be the next queen. Also his niece is his wife, and don’t think that he isn’t suspected of marrying her in part to get closer to the throne.

When last we left the characters on House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra was about to go to war with her half-brother Aegon for control of the Iron Throne. Daemon is firmly on Rhaenyra’s side, but might he make a play for the throne himself?

If you’ve read George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, you know the answer to that question. Whatever the book says, one artist — 83pixelstudios on Instagram — took it upon themselves to give us a glimpse of what it might look like if Daemon made his move. Check it out:

It looks like Daemon’s dragon Caraxes seems to have blown a hole in the wall of the Red Keep. Clearly this was not a peaceable transfer of power. Considering that Daemon is involved, we would expect nothing less.

We’ll see what Daemon and the rest of his dragon-riding family get up to when House of the Dragon returns to HBO and Max in the early summer of 2024.
