Last year, Paramount+ debuted its science fiction show Halo, based on the massively popular Xbox video game series. The show received a somewhat mixed response, but Paramount still intends to make a second season. Since then, the news has been somewhat sparse; we know Halo season 2 starting filming around the end of summer 2022, but beyond that we’ve gotten not a single update about when to expect it.

Well, someone may have just let the cat out of the bag. The entire first season of Halo is now available to stream for free on the Paramount Plus YouTube page. According to GamesRadar+, the official description attached to the video playlist read “stream every episode of Halo on Paramount+ and catch up before the new season streaming February 8.”

This is the first mention of a release date for Halo season 2. As of this writing, the mention of a February 8 release date has been taken down from the videos, so presumably a mistake was made. But you know how it goes: once a thing is said on the internet, you can’t take it back.

The Master Chief returns in February 2024

Despite it probably being a flub that the release date went up early, we’re still counting this as a legit announcement. Halo will be a major part of Paramount+’s panel this Saturday, December 2 at the CCXP convention in Brazil. Showrunner David Wiener and executive producer Kiki Wolfkill are there, as are stars Pablo Schreiber (Master Chief) and Joseph Morgan (James Ackerson). With those sorts of panelists, it seems very likely that the release date will be announced there. More than likely, someone accidentally leaked the date early on those YouTube videos. Who wants to bet that after this weekend, it’ll be back?

Halo isn’t the only show announcing big news at CCXP. HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon unveiled new posters today and is expected to debut the first trailer for season 2 on Saturday. Rejoice, fellow nerds! CCXP brings many gifts this year.

Next. First posters for House of the Dragon season 2 will tear at your soul. dark
