Over the weekend, HBO revealed the first teaser trailer for the second season of House of the Dragon, the network’s Game of Thrones prequel series. It’s epic and I want it and give it to me:
Unfortunately, we won’t get the see the continuing adventures of Rhaenyra, Daemon, Alicent and the rest for a while. The end of the trailer says that the new episodes won’t arrive until “Summer 2024.”
We’ve had an inkling that House of the Dragon season 2 would be premiering in the summer of 2024 for a while. HBO didn’t give us more specifics in this trailer, but can we root them out anyway?
HBO CEO said that House of the Dragon season 2 is coming in “early summer”
Last month, HBO CEO Casey Bloys said at a press event that House of the Dragon season 2 would premiere in “early summer” of 2024, according to Variety. That narrows things down a bit.
The summer of 2024 begins on Thursday, June 20 and last through Sunday, September 22. So “early summer” could mean sometime between late June and late July, roughly the first third of the season.
For reference, the first season of House of the Dragon premiered on August 22, 2021, in mid-late summer. Hopefully the second season will kick off a little earlier. The sooner we’re watching dragons tear each other apart on our screen, the better.
