As we near the end of 2023, it’s time for IMDb to reveal its various rankings for the year. And to the surprise of absolutely no one, The Mandalorian and The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal has topped the list of the Top 10 Stars of 2023.

With well over 250 million monthly visitors, IMDb has become the internet’s go-to outpost for all information on the entertainment industry. Their annual lists gather data from the site’s IMDbPro MOVIEmeter and STARmeter rankings. (Mostly, how many people visited the IMDb pages for these actors, movies, shows, etc?) Last year, Ana de Armas and House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy topped the list of the biggest stars of the year, and Pascal didn’t even feature.

However, this year features a mostly different set of stars. It’s interesting to see The Last of Us duo Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) both make the top 5. Meanwhile, Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega is an obvious inclusion, as does Barbie herself, Margot Robbie. Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy manages to sneak into the list, too. Check out the full list, per Deadline:

  1. Pedro Pascal
  2. Mary Elizabeth Winstead
  3. Ana de Armas
  4. Jenna Ortega
  5. Bella Ramsey
  6. Margot Robbie
  7. Rebecca Ferguson
  8. Katee Sackhoff
  9. Carla Gugino
  10. Cillian Murphy

Additionally, IMDb ranked the 10 breakout stars of the year. Funnily enough, Bella Ramsey and Katee Sackhoff top the list; they’re the only actors to feature on both the list of breakout stars and of top stars of the year. The list also includes Emily Rudd (One Piece), Sasha Calle (The Flash), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Ahsoka), and Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story).

IMDb’s biggest TV shows of 2023

Next up is the biggest TV shows of the year. There have been some huge releases, that’s for sure. But what makes the top 10? All of the usual suspects are there, from The Last of Us to Succession. Not a single Marvel show is on this list, which is pretty crazy. But with that said, Secret Invasion was pretty underwhelming. I thought Loki would’ve made the cut though.

  1. The Last of Us
  2. Ahsoka
  3. Succession
  4. Black Mirror
  5. The Mandalorian
  6. One Piece
  7. The Fall of the House of Usher
  8. Ted Lasso
  9. The Bear
  10. Gen V

IMDb’s biggest movies of 2023

Given what a huge event “Barbenheimer” was this year, it’s no surprise to see Oppenheimer and Barbie take the top 2 spots on IMDb’s list of the biggest movies of 2023. Marvel has a big presence on this list, with both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Across the Spider-Verse making the cut.

  1. Oppenheimer
  2. Barbie
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
  4. The Little Mermaid
  5. John Wick: Chapter 4
  6. The Super Mario Bros. Movie
  7. Five Nights at Freddy’s
  8. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
  9. Killers of the Flower Moon
  10. The Flash

The entertainment industry has struggled this year as strikes shut down productions for months. Even so, we’ve still had plenty of excellent movies and TV shows. Onwards to 2024. What will be on the list next year? Avatar: The Last Airbender? Echo? Dune: Part II? Deadpool 3? Make your predictions!
