House of the Dragon season 2 release date is in summer 2024
By WiC Staff
The second season of House of the Dragon is officially arriving on HBO and Max in the summer of 2024. We know because the trailer said so:
But when exactly will the new season premiere? Can we narrow down any further than “summer 2024”?
Perhaps. In early November, Variety reported that House of the Dragon season 2 was targeting an “early summer” release date. They said this after watching a trailer — probably the one HBO has since released — screened exclusively for members of the press. HBO CEO Casey Bloys was also at the event, so Variety was in a good position to get some inside information.
The summer of 2024 will start on Thursday, June 20 and last through Sunday, September 22. Let’s say that “early summer” lasts for the first 30 days of that three-month period, so June 20 through July 20, 2024. That’s where I’d expect to see House of the Dragon season 2 premiere.
Of course, HBO could be shuffling things around internally. The first season of House of the Dragon premiered on August 21 of 2021, in the back half of the summer. Maybe they want season 2 to follow suit, although considering how long fans have already been waiting, if I were in their shoes I’d want season 2 to start sooner rather than later.
We’ll all have to wait for HBO to reveal an exact release date, but at least we now have a general window.
