The nominations are out for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, and both of the main cast members from The Last of Us — Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey — are nominated in prestigious acting categories.
First up, Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel, is up for the top award for actors on the TV side of things; here’s who he’s up against:
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama
- Brian Cox — Succession
- Kieran Culkin — Succession
- Gary Oldman — Slow Horses
- Pedro Pascal — The Last of Us
- Jeremy Strong — Succession
- Dominic West — The Crown
Meanwhile, Ramsey, who played Joel’s traveling companion Ellie on The Last of Us, is up for the top award for actresses:
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama
- Helen Mirren — 1923
- Bella Ramsey — The Last of Us
- Keri Russell – The Diplomat
- Sarah Snook — Succession
- Imelda Staunton — The Crown
- Emma Stone — The Curse
It should be noted that Ramsey identifies as non-binary. According to a GQ interview, she doesn’t mind what pronouns are used for her.
So can these two pull off a win? They’re both up against cast members from Succession, which got a lot of buzz this year. But The Last of Us was a huge hit, so I wouldn’t count either of them out.
The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards will air on CBS on Sunday, Jan 7.
