Red Wedding director to get lifetime achievement award

Director David Nutter will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Director’s Guild of America! Nutter may not be a household name, but if you watch TV, you’ve probably enjoyed his work. He’s directed episodes of shows like The X-FilesThe SopranosEntourage and Band of Brothers, as well as directing pilots for series like The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural, Smallville, and many others; with 24 pilots under his belt, 21 of which were picked up to series, he’s earned the title of “King of Pilots.”

But to us, Nutter will always be the guy who directed the Red Wedding on Game of Thrones, in the episode “The Rains of Castamere.” He also directed great episodes like “The Dance of Dragons” (the one where Stannis burns his daughter alive) and “Mother’s Mercy” (the one where Cersei makes her walk of atonement), but the Red Wedding seems destined to be his legacy.

“The DGA has always been my foundation, my shining light, my bulwark against the impediments that so often crop up in this industry,” Nutter said in a statement, according to Variety. “This is really a career pinnacle of sorts for me and validates what I’ve been doing to such a tremendous degree. Combined with the great support of my family, and my friends, and my fellow crew members and creatives, I can’t think of anything more gratifying than to receive this commendation.”

Nutter will receive his award at the 76th Annual DGA Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Congratulations all around! If “The Rains of Castemere” starts playing, get out of there.

Rheon plays a character named Meurig, which is an awfully Welsh name. “As each man grapples with their own insecurities and hiding the truth from their loved ones – including their wives and partners – will this little pill be able to bring back their spark?” reads the official description.

Men Up starts airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on December 29.

Maisie Williams stars in new music video

Finally, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) features in a new music video for the song “She’s On My Mind” by the Australian artist Romy. It’s a fun, somewhat melancholy dance track with a video featuring lots of shots of Williams getting into the groove at a club:
