This Wednesday, Disney will debut the first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, its adaptation of Rick Riordan’s popular book series. Walker Scobell plays the role of Percy, a seemingly ordinary teenager who finds out he’s actually the son of the Greek god Poseidon. Over time, he’ll be able to control water, start hurricanes and talk to fish, as well as become an accomplished sword fighter.

Does that mean he would be the last man standing in a fight with Harry Potter, the boy wizard who can blast concussive punches from the tip of his wand? According to Scobell, yes. “I do wanna see Percy vs Harry Potter at some point,” Scobell said during a live episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It wouldn’t be much of a fight, though. It would not be a fight at all, oh my gosh. I don’t know how you could say Harry Potter would win that.”

Fans can debate the rightness of that claim at their leisure. However Harry and Percy would match up, it’s worth noting that the Percy Jackson books were one of several young adult fantasy series to find success in the wake of the phenomenally successful Harry Potter books, and Percy Jackson cribs more liberally from Harry Potter than most. So even if Percy backed Harry up against a wall, at least Harry could throw that in his face.

Walker Scobell would “love” to meet original Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman

The Disney+ show isn’t the first time that the Percy Jackson books have been adapted for the screen. A pair of Percy Jackson movies came out in the 2010s starring Logan Lerman in the title role. They didn’t go over particularly well with critics or fans, but it’s important to acknowledge your elders.

“We’ve all seen the movies,” Scobell told The New York Post. “I have not met Logan Lerman. I would love to, someday. I’d love to get his take on how he played Percy Jackson. That would be pretty cool.”

Scobell and his castmates have already met Riordan, which was a long time coming for someone who started reading the books at an early age. “I started reading the books in third grade. I’ve read them seven times, including while we were filming,” Scobell said.

"The support from the ‘Percy Jackson’ fan base has been insane, in a good way. They’re great. My favorite part of all this is the acting part. I really love ‘Percy Jackson,’ and I’m excited for everyone to see it. I’m pretty nervous, to see how everyone will handle it, but I’m mostly excited."

Percy Jackson and the Olympians starts airing on Disney+ on December 20.
