The show that many people called the "Squid Game equivalent" is finally back! It's been a really long time since we last saw a new season of Alice in Borderland. We're talking almost three years ago, so fans are more than ready to jump back into the heart-pounding action, deadly games, and intense drama that made the show a worldwide sensation in the first place.
After the second season came out in December 2022, many people thought it would be the final installment because of the way it ended. It seemed like the story had reached its conclusion, closely following the manga and wrapping up the major plotlines. But that turned out not to be the case, with Netflix officially renewing the popular sci-fi thriller series for a third season in September 2023.

If you’re in the U.S., the full third season will be available on Netflix starting Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET. These times specifically apply to the West and East Coasts. For viewers in the Central time zone, the show will be released at 2:00 a.m. CT on the same date.

Unfortunately, it's not known how many episodes make up the third season. However, there's a rumor going around that Alice in Borderland season 3 will consist of six episodes.
How does Alice in Borderland season 2 end?
In the Alice in Borderland season 2 finale, Arisu and Usagi face the final game master, Mira (the Queen of Hearts), in her game "Croquet." Mira tries to trick Arisu into thinking he’s hallucinating and losing his grip on reality. It takes a shocking act of self-harm from Usagi to snap Arisu out of Mira’s illusion and back to reality. Though Mira technically wins the game, Arisu’s refusal to quit ultimately saves his life, leading to the defeat of all the Face Cards and Mira's execution.
The surviving players are then given the option to stay in the Borderland or return to the real world, with most choosing to go back. They awaken in the real world with no memory of each other, but Arisu and Usagi feel an undeniable connection after running into each other at a vending machine.
The final scene shows playing cards being blown away, except for the Joker, suggesting there’s more to the story.
What is Alice in Borderland season 3 about?
In Alice in Borderland season 3, Arisu and Usagi are married and seemingly happy in the real world. While most of their memories of the Borderland are gone, they occasionally catch glimpses of it in dreams and hallucinations. But when Usagi is kidnapped by a mysterious scholar fixated on the afterlife, Arisu finds himself having to return to the Borderland to rescue her.
While there, he must navigate deadly new games, confront the mysterious Joker stage, and team up with new players in a desperate fight to save Usagi and find a way back to the real world.
Kento Yamazaki reprises his role as Arisu, with Tao Tsuchiya returning as Usagi. The season 3 cast is also made up of Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, Katsuya Maiguma, Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga, Akana Ikeda, and Kento Kaku.
