Amazon messed up one of the Emmy submissions for The Wheel of Time

But it's successfully submitted the show in lots of other categories.

Amazon may have cancelled The Wheel of Time a few weeks back, but at least the series has a chance of having a good showing at the Emmys. After all, the recent third season was easily the best yet; we can think of a few episodes that deserve awards. Even Amazon seems to agree; they're pushing to get an Emmy for "The Hills of Tanchico," the bawdy medieval balled Elayne sings in Episode 306, written by Nikhil Koparkar. Watch it above!

Amazon is entering The Wheel of Time in more categories than just Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, but they are emphasizing it. And why not? It's a fun ditty that fits right into the grand tradition of catchy songs made up for fantasy dramas, like "Toss a Coin To Your Witcher" from The Witcher or "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" from Game of Thrones.

Only now, Nikhil Koparkar has shared that apparently "The Hills of Tanchico" isn't on the Emmy ballet, because there was "an issue with Amazon's submission." He assures fans that they're working to solve the problem and that he'll be back with more information when he knows something:

Look, this is probably an innocent mistake that Amazon will endeavor to correct, and with any luck "The Hills of Tanchico" will not just be on the ballot for this year's Emmy Awards, but will win. Also, The Wheel of Time will win the award for Best Drama, and then Apple will be inspired to pick it up, and it will go on to have five more great seasons, and it will become a modern classic, and the executives at Amazon who decided to pull the plug will cry bitter tears and rue the mistakes they made. And then I'll find 10 million dollars in my crawlspace; as long as I'm fantasizing I might as well throw in something for myself, right?

As fans endeavor to save The Wheel of Time, there's a fantasizing instinct kicking in; we're all hoping for the best. I think there's also a projection instinct at work. Amazon messing up the Emmy submission for "The Hills of Tanchico" is likely just a slip-up that's easily remedied, but after they cancelled this show in the middle of the story just as it was becoming great, it almost feels like malice, or at least indifference so potent it might as well be malice.

Clearly, I'm still not over The Wheel of Time getting cancelled; it's a me problem, try to ignore it. Amazon has put the show forward in lots of other categories, including writing, directing, acting, costumes and more.

Emmy nominations will be announced on July 15, with the ceremony going down on September 14. For more information on "The Hills of Tanchico," check out our interview with Nikhil Koparkar:
