We finally have a date for the return of For All Mankind!

While so many Apple TV+ shows get scores of attention and awards from the mainstream, For All Mankind is somehow overlooked. It was one of the launch series for Apple TV+ in 2019 and has carved out a good following, especially among sci-fi fans.

It’s been a long wait for season 5, as season 4 was released back in January 2024. Thankfully, the wait is almost over as the streamer announced that the space drama will return on Friday, March 27. Installments will roll out weekly, with the 10-episode fifth season ending on May 29.

A teaser has also been released that hints at more drama and action as the series continues to unfold its stunning mix of sci-fi drama and political intrigue in a fantastic setting.

For those who haven’t caught it, the series imagines a world where the Soviet Union beat the United States to the moon in 1969. That creates a new history, mixing real-world figures with fictional ones as the two countries engage in a new space race.

Season 4 took place in the early 2000s in a world where the USSR still exists, advanced technologies have altered humanity and Mars has been colonized. It ended with another time jump to 2012, as a colony exists on a huge mining asteroid, setting up a new season of drama.

No doubt, the series will open as previous seasons have with a montage of how history unfolded in this alternate 2012. The teaser has Joel Kinnaman back as hero astronaut Ed Baldwin, talking about "Everything that's happened has led to this moment. You're going to do things that people can't even fathom. It's on you to make the next move."

The teaser features Sean Kaufman as the now adult Alex Baldwin, who seems to be following in the family footsteps as a top astronaut with the log line hinting at another wave of exploration, causing new conflicts:

“Season five of For All Mankind picks up in the years since the Goldilocks asteroid heist. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving colony with thousands of residents and a base for new missions that will take us even further into the solar system. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Red Planet, friction continues to build between the people who live on Mars and their former home.”

In addition to Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Pena, and Wrenn Schmidt will also be back for season 5. New to the cast are Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Ruby Cruz and Ines Asserson. We still need to see more footage to come, but fans are excited to see if the grand sci-fi epic can conclude in a wonderful way.

For All Mankind season 5 premieres Friday, March 27 on Apple TV+.
