Disney may have figured out a new way to get moviegoers back to theaters: release a highly-anticipated movie trailer alongside another movie. In this case, word is that we may get to see the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday attached to James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Disney released three Marvel films in 2025, all leading up to the next Avengers film: Avengers: Doomsday. Hype for the film has been thriving since the reveal of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the franchise to play The Fantastic Four's archnemesis Doctor Doom. Since the reveal at San Diego Comic Con 2024, the extensive cast has been announced and filming has wrapped, with audiences and fans continuing to theorize about what will happen in the first Avenger's movie since 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
Although the film is not due for release until December 18, 2026, a hint or two of what fans can expect would be a much-appreciated gesture. Well, as it turns out, Collider "has learned from multiple sources that the first footage from the MCU's next big team-up film is scheduled to be attached to the latest installment of one of Disney's other blockbuster franchises, Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
In years past, movie trailers were just as exciting as watching the film itself. There is a gigantic different between watching a movie trailer from home or on a cellphone compared to in a dark and immense theater, surrounded by speakers that reverberate with every sound and musical score.

Who can remember the first time they saw The Dark Knight trailer in a movie theater, or The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey? Truthfully, witnessing the Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer in theaters while waiting for The Fantastic Four: First Steps to begin made it all the more memorable an experience.
Nowadays, movie trailers tend to have a mixed success rate in appealing to their intended audience, not to mention the overabundance of commercials and ads in theaters. Some trailers reveal too much, others not enough. And some completely miss the mark (Wuthering Heights). But our first glimpse at the next installment in the Avatar franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash has transformed what everyone thought they knew of Pandora.
The previous film Avatar: The Way of Water proved that regardless of the span of time between the first film and the sequel, audiences and critics could still connect with a long-simmering sequel. The stakes are high for Avatar: Fire and Ash, which you can watch the official trailer for below!
Avatar: Fire and Ash arrives to theaters on December 19. Avengers: Doomsday is currently slated to release on December 18, 2026.
