The latest episode of The Wheel of Time, "The Road to the Spear," adapted a key scene from Robert Jordan's book The Shadow Rising, when Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) visits the sacred Aiel city of Rhuidean and sees the development of the Aiel people through the eyes of his ancestors. Meanwhile, the Aes Sedai sorceress Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) visits Rhuidean and sees visions of her possible future. All of it came together in the trippiest, most visually spectacular episode of the show yet.

It's also the most popular of the episode of the show to date, at least if the fan ratings on IMDb are anything to go by. It's definitely our favorite episode so far, and one fans of The Wheel of Time book series have been waiting to see adapted for years. "The Road to the Spear" was a big deal. To keep the party going, let's look at some images from behind the scenes of this fantastic episode, starting with this pic of Rand carrying an unconscious Moiraine out of Rhuidean:

This is the same shot from the poster for The Wheel of Time season 3, just without the camera up top.

Rand sees visions of the past when walking through the glass columns of Rhuidean. He's not alone: Muradin (Fredrik Wagner), an aspiring Aiel chieftain, also makes the journey, but he doesn't survive. Here they are in happier times:

One of the highlights of the sequence was Moiraine's visions of her possible future. We saw a lot of them; I can't imagine how long it took to set all of them up, just to show them to us for a flash of time. We had Moiraine as the Amyrlin Seat...

...Moiraine back with Rand in his hometown of Emond's Field in the Two Rivers (along with director Thomas Napper)...

...Moiraine getting killed by the Forsaken sorceress Lanfear (Natasha O'Keeffe) over and over and over again...

...and in one of the most spectacular visions, Moiraine in the Ways at the mercy of Lanfear and most of our cast of good guys, who in this alternate reality have been villainous Forsaken:

They dressed up the cast as evil versions of their characters just for this one shot. That's dedication. At least someone thought to take individual photos:

When the characters weren't having visions of the past or future, they chilled in the Aiel Waste. Mind the sun:
