Bella Ramsey was an instant fan favorite when they debuted as Lyanna Mormont in the sixth season of Game of Thrones. The pint-sized leader of Bear Island immediately bulldozed over characters many times her age, announcing herself as a force to be reckoned with and building a home in the hearts of fans.
Ramsay would have been around 12 years old when those episodes aired, and younger when they were filmed. Years later, Ramsey plays Ellie on The Last of Us, quite possibly the most successful show HBO has made since the end of Game of Thrones. Success just sticks to them.
That said, Ramsey isn't a huge fan of watching back their performance as Lyanna Mormont. “I’m only at a point now I can watch it," Ramsey said on The Jonathan Ross Show, per CBR. “It made me cringe a bit. I found it so bizarre it was me. You do get used to it.”
I think it's pretty normal for people to cringe when watching footage of themselves as kids, to say nothing of an actor looking back at work they did before they were old enough to get a learner's permit. Ramsey has come a long way since then, even being nominated for an Emmy for playing Ellie in the first season of The Last of Us. The second season has officially kicked off. Might Ramsey actually win that Emmy this time?
Bella Ramsey "got hurt" doing action scenes on The Last of Us. "It's really fun."
If you've played The Last of Us Part II video game, you know Ellie is going to go on a wild adventure, and it will give Ramsey the opportunity to show off lots of different skills. Some, like horse-riding, they already knew from Game of Thrones. "They gave me way too much training for that," Ramsey said. "But I did train again for this season." Then there are all the action scenes. The second season basically started with Ellie practicing jiu-jitsu on a much larger opponent. "There’s boxing, some Brazilian jiu-jitsu – you can be small and take someone down."

Ramsey is all about doing more action scenes in The Last of Us season 2. "It’s really fun. I have got hurt," they said. “I got hit in the eye by a dying clicker and I got a black eye. Second season I got a proper bust lip. I love it. I really love it. I’m very good at getting injured just enough that I can keep working and not stop."
If that sounds as fun to you as it does to Ramsey, new episodes of The Last of Us drop Sunday nights on HBO and Max.
