Is Brendan Fraser returning to The Mummy? The actor played the lead role of Rick O'Connell in the 1999 action-adventure film, a remake of the 1932 film of the same name, and received a "Best Actor" nomination at the Saturn Awards. 18 years after his last Mummy appearance, the Rental Family actor has addressed rumors about his potential return.
In an interview with RadioTimes, Fraser gave a vague answer about his potential return to the franchise. While he didn't give a full confirmation, he's optimistic about him making an appearance, hinting that his return could be on the table. This isn't the first time Fraser spoke about his interest in returning to The Mummy films. Back in November 2025, it was reported that he and his co-star Rachel Weisz are in talks to return to the franchise for a fourth film.
"My lips are sealed!" Fraser said. "I'm hoping to have good news soon, since I know how popular the films were. People say, 'I grew up watching that movie, and now I've got kids...' Let's all keep our fingers crossed and light a candle."

What do we know about The Mummy 4?
The Mummy 4 is the reported next installment of the Stephen Sommers film trilogy, and the first new movie in the series since the release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. At the moment, details of this movie have not been revealed, and it's currently unknown whether the project is officially greenlit. The only news so far is that Fraser and Weisz are in talks to get involved, and it will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence.
The 1999 Mummy franchise follows Rick O'Connell, an explorer and treasure hunter who accidentally resurrects the ancient Egyptian priest Imhotep, who plans to rule the world. The first two movies were set in Ancient Egypt, but by the 2008 film, O'Connell and his team explore China, where they face a resurrected Chinese Warlord, played by Jet Li.
The first Mummy film found success upon its release, receiving a nomination for Best Sound at the Academy Awards, receiving a 63% critics score and a 75% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and generating over $422 million at the box office. Its sequel received a fair reception when it entered theaters in 2001, generating $435 million worldwide and gaining a 63% audience score, but a 46% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. But its third installment did not do nearly as well, earning a low critics' score of 13% and an audience score of 30%.
