Chandler Riggs thinks Arcane is a better show than The Walking Dead
By Ashley Hurst
Chandler Riggs rose to prominence thanks to playing Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead. He played the character for 78 episodes across eight seasons between 2010 and 2018. And in that time, he received the Saturn Award for 'Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.'
Riggs' departure from the show was far from perfect; many fans turned away from the series following the decision to kill off Carl. In The Walking Dead comics, Carl is key to the ending, and the show completely disregarded the source material in that respect.
Since playing Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead, Riggs hasn't been on our screens all that much. One notable project of his is The Spider, a fan film based on Spider-Man where he plays the iconic Peter Parker. Plus, he's tried his hand at voice acting, playing Superman in Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen. He also has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in the series finale of The Walking Dead. Riggs can now be found streaming games over on his Twitch page.
Despite all his years on The Walking Dead, Riggs doesn't have any favoritism towards the show. Why do I say this? Well, after watching season 2 of Netflix's League of Legends animated series, Arcane, he posted on X that it's "hands-down" the best show he's ever seen, live-action or animated.
His comment was met with stark reminders from The Walking Dead fans telling him to remember the show. "Clearly you haven’t seen The Walking Dead," one user replied, while another quipped, "Bro hasn’t seen his own show."
I think it's totally fair for Riggs to say this. He's not exactly throwing The Walking Dead under the bus. In fact, I can imagine that, for actors, it's hard to enjoy your own show the way casual fans do. And also, it goes without saying that Arcane deserves every bit of praise. It's so, so good. Both seasons are now streaming on Netflix.
