There comes a point when one must look at Pedro Pascal and wonder what roles he hasn't played yet. From horror to historical drama, comedy, and even the world of Marvel superheroes, it seems Pascal has done or is doing it all, always with a flash of a smile, quick wit, and amazing acting ability.

Pascal's resume is nothing short of astounding, starting off with minor television show appearances in series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and slowly building momentum after that. He stole the spotlight in hits like Game of Thrones, Narcos, Triple Frontier, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and now The Last of Us. As of 2025, he's already grabbed fans' attention in the film Freaky Tales and will soon return as Joel in The Last of Us season 2. He even dazzled a catchy and moving Apple AirPods 4 ad.

But this will not be the last we see of Pascal. Not by a long shot. We've compiled a list of all of Pascal upcoming projects, from romance to Marvel to the post-apocalypse:

The Last of Us season 2

We start with what's right in front of our face: this weekend, on Sunday, April 13, HBO will air the second season premiere of The Last of Us, its adaptation of Naughty Dog's hugely popular video game series. Pedro Pascal will return as Joel, a hardened survivor of the zombie apocaypse. Only he's a little less hard these days. At the end of season 1, Joel and his surrogate daughter Ellie (Bella Ramsey) settled down in the relatively safe community of Jackson, Wyoming. But the two have drifted apart since then, thanks to a lie Joel told Ellie about how their last adventure ended. That's where we'll pick up in season 2.

The first season of The Last of Us was an enormous success, so all eyes will be on Pascal, Ramsey and the rest of the cast when the show comes back. We expect Pascal to once again smash his performance as the world-weary Joel.

Materialists

It will surely be the biggest debate since Twilight: Who will Dakota Johnson choose: Chris Evans or Pedro Pascal? Materialists, an A24 film due for release on June 13, is a love triangle tale about a New York City matchmaker, the most perfect man to ever exist (Pascal), and her ex (Evans).

Hmm...who is she going to choose? Will the film follow the trope of having her fall back in love with her ex, choosing to ignore the fact that he's a man-child with no real direction, or will she go for the man who has his life together?

Or will an unexpected twist make the decision for her? (Frozen, anyone?) A24 is known for its horror films, so it's hard to predict exactly how things will go.

Either Materialists will remain a heartfelt comedic romcom throughout, or this is all a trick and some scary undertones will bubble to the surface.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

The most anticipated Marvel film of 2025 — arguably the most anticipated in years — is The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While fans seem mostly accepting of the casting choices to play the famous family of superheroes, the response to Pascal taking on the role of Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, has been rather mixed. In my opinion, that's unfair.

Yes, there will always be actors and actresses who are egregiously miscast, but Pascal has yet to disappoint in a single role he has taken. The man has proven he can be carefree and genuine in interviews while convincing everyone he is this moody brute with a heart of gold and southern accent in The Last of Us.

With that said, this will be the fourth iteration of The Fantastic Four on the big screen, with many remembering the 2005 film with fondness and everyone forgetting the 2015 movie even exists. This time around, the film seems to be going back to its comic book roots, taking place in the 1960s and foregoing the origin story (except perhaps in flashbacks). The Fantastic Four will be established and well-known from the start. All is well until Galactus arrives...

Marvel has put a lot of eggs into this basket, and I'm remaining confident the film will be a success. The Fantastic Four: First Steps premieres on July 25.

Eddington

Not much is known about this movie, but it's coming sometime this year. Starring Pedro Pascal, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler, the film is categorized as a western comedy, possibly with some horror overtones. It's directed by Ari Aster, who made eerie movies like Midsommar and Hereditary.

The movie set in a small New Mexico town called Eddington. Pascal plays the mayor of the town, Ted Garcia. Is the hero, villain, victim, or all of the above? Who knows? But the impressive cast suggests that Eddington could be something special.

Avengers: Doomsday

Nearly two weeks ago, Marvel revealed the cast of the next Avengers film with a long shot of all of the actors' and actresses' chairs, starting with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and slowly moving down the line through the cast of the upcoming movie Thunderbolts*, a good number of the X-Men from the early 2000s films, until we reach Pascal's name right next to Robert Downey Jr.

Downey Jr. will be playing Doctor Doom, an archnemesis of The Fantastic Four. This confused fans, since he previously played the hero Iron Man. We'll see how that goes when Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently filming, comes out in theaters on May 1, 2026.

After the collapse of Marvel's initial plan for Kang the Conqueror to be the next main villain of the franchise, I look forward to seeing how all of this plays out.

THE MANDALORIAN, Season 3
(L-R): Grogu and Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) with stone crabs in Lucasfilm's THE MANDALORIAN, season three, exclusively on Disney+. ©2023 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

The Mandalorian & Grogu

The best Star Wars TV show to date will be returning as a feature film titled The Mandalorian & Grogu. Due for release on May 22, 2026 (why does this still feel so far away?!), Pascal will be returning to play Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who has taken the adorable, scene-stealing, Force-sensitive Mandalorian apprentice Grogu under his wing.

For three seasons, audiences were captivated by Pascal's performance as the fearless, deadly, and stoic Mandalorian, and this even though the character wears a mask most of the time. The show begins with Din Djarin hunting for jobs five years after the fall of the Galactic Empire. His entire world is turned upside down when he's assigned to deliver Grogu (who at the time was simply known as the Child) to the remnants of the Empire for reasons unclear at the time.

Deciding to rescue the Child instead, the duo spend three seasons going on missions together, making new allies, and defeating villains, all the while expanding Star Wars lore. The Mandalorian & Grogu is probably the project I am most excited about on this list, although it remains unknown how involved Pascal was during filming, as he wasn't always the one under the mask during the series.

Avengers: Secret Wars

Last but not least on our list is Avengers: Secret Wars. The movie currently has a release date of May 7, 2027, although that could change, Pascal would be returning as Mister Fantastic, aka Reed Richards.

Very little is known about this Avengers film at this point other than it will mark the end of Phase 6 the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Until more films are released, we can only theorize what will occur and who will be joining Pascal in the cast.

Which upcoming Pedro Pascal project are you looking forward to the most?
