It's been over two years since Ewan McGregor returned to the Star Wars franchise in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it may not yet be the end.

Despite airing in 2022, Disney+ has yet to formally cancel its Obi-Wan Kenobi show, nor renew it for another season. The Star Wars series has spent two years in a sort of limbo. But star Ewan McGregor has always voiced his desire to continue the journey, and most recently, he revealed that Disney is indeed quietly exploring ideas for another installment.

While being interviewed on stage at L.A. Comic Con, McGregor was asked about the status of Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2. Thankfully, he wasn't as secretive as everyone expected him to be, saying Disney is "exploring" ideas for a potential sophomore season.

As for what he'd like a second season to entail, McGregor naturally wants more flashback scenes with Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker. The first season had fan-service galore in that respect, bringing back both actors to play the parts that last occupied in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Of course, McGregor would need to be de-aged for flashback scenes, and he's perfectly happy to do that. "That way Hayden and I can really get back together again."

Plus, McGregor wants Obi-Wan to don his iconic armour from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. "There’s a couple of things. I’d quite like to wear that armor, I was speaking to someone earlier, from the Clone Wars. I think that would be something that I would enjoy."

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series was set between the end of the prequel trilogy and the start of the original trilogy. In terms of the timeline, McGregor believes there's plenty of space to cover more of Obi-Wan's adventures. "Obviously between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi [in the original Star Wars movie], there's got to be another few stories in there," he said.

Ewan McGregor's new comments will undoubtedly offer a lot of hope to fans desperate for a season 2. He seems a lot more optimistic than he was earlier this year, when he admitted that nobody at Disney was considering another season. "I would love to do the second season, but there’s no talk of it yet," he said at the time. "There is a lot going on at Disney."
