Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage steps out at Wicked screening with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo

Peter Dinklage doesn't make a ton of public appearances, but he couldn't miss taking a victory lap for Wicked.

Wicked has a lot of things going for it. It's a faithful, joyous adaptation of the Broadway musical; it's got a pair of terrific leads in Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, both of whom can sing their faces off; and it's got Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) starring as a talking goat.

Dinklage's turn as Doctor Dillamond — a goat who is also a university professor as well as a political prisoner — isn't the showiest performance in the movie, but it is strong. Although he doesn't have many scenes, Dinklage is perfect as the wise old teacher who's existence is being outlawed by an increasingly authoritarian Wizard of Oz. I kind of wished they had put Dinklage in a little goat-man costume like they do with the stage show, rather than animating Doctor Dillamond with digital effects and having Dinklage voice him. I loved the movie but the CGI animals looked a little too much like CGI animals for my taste. I'd have preferred they go the puppet/costume route.

Anyway, Dinklage recently came out for a special screening of Wicked along with his costars, which is notable for no other reason than because he's generally not the kind of actor to make lots of public appearances. I like this photo below, since he's standing in front of the Wicked poster and it kind of looks like Elphaba and Glinda's billowing skirts are part of his outfit:

And he is with Cynthia Erivo, Elphaba herself:

And below we see Dinklage with Erivo, Ariana Grande (Glinda), Ethan Slater (Boq), producer Marc Platt and director Jon M. Chu:

Dinklage will return as Doctor Dillamond in Wicked: Part 2, which will be out in theaters on November 21, 2025. If the movie sticks to the stage show, things will get rather bleak for the old goat. Consider me invested.
