The season 2 finale of Gen V is here, and revelations abound as our Supes face off with their most dangerous foe yet. FULL SPOILERS ahead for Gen V season 2 episode 8, "Trojan."

The Guardians of Godolkin

This episode opens back in 1967 again with Godolkin and the other scientists in a room on fire. We find out how he managed to live all these years and gained his own powers. In the current day, he has a co-conspirator at Vought, Sage (Susan Heyward), but may have his own agenda still.

Now that Cipher is no longer controlling Doug (the dean), our Supes assist him with his injuries and gain valuable information in the process. As Polarity drives him to a medical professional, their car is attacked by Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).

Marie finally relents and heals Cate. There are shifts in relationships going forward.

Godolkin, in his restored state, reaches out via cell phones to all students at the university. He introduces himself, wipes all of the rankings, and encourages them to take a seminar he offers.

Seeing the video, our hero Supes set out to warn other students of the danger. Of course, they are only partially successful. Those who don’t listen attend Godolkin’s culling, where he makes them kill one another. There is a hint that his healing may not be permanent. He’s also showing signs of his own powers growing.

Sage, unhappy with Godolkin veering off their plan, reaches out to Polarity at the asylum. It not clear what she wants but there’s a notion Marie’s healing does more than fix wounds or powers, but increases them. She leaves his cell door unlocked.

Back at Godolkin’s murderous seminars, Marie arrives to confront him. She’s joined by the others in a typical Gen V gross transportation mode. They battle the controlled students. Marie uses her powers on Godolkin and finds him stronger. He does his best to control her, but Polarity breaks down the door, changing the tide of the battle.

I expected Homelander to show up about then but he didn’t. Still, the ending of this episode (and season) was a good one. Who doesn't love it when a truly nasty villain eats dirt...or in this case explodes? There’s certainly set up for another season, but the reality is Gen V is set before season 5 of The Boys. It looks, to me, like there will be some crossover in the final season of The Boys, rather than another season of Gen V. However, one never knows with the worlds of superheroes. I hope the other planned spinoffs ofThe Boys come to fruition.
