The second season of Apple's post-apocalyptic drama Silo ended with a major revelation that will change the course of the story moving forward. No, it wasn't the reveal that the world outside the siloes was indeed unlivable, nor the reveal that one silo keeps watch over the others. It was the flashback sequence that showed us what things were like before the end of the world. We were introduced to a congressman and journalist meeting in Washington D.C, already planting the seeds of how the silos came to be.

Based on the popular book series by Hugh Howey, the first two seasons of Silo mainly followed a character named Juliette, who lives in an underground silo with many other people; they've been down there for generations and have forgotten how they've come to be there, but know that they can't leave for the surface. Her quest to find out why her boyfriend died leads to plot twist after plot twist, unveiling who really controls the silo and why; we get to know many side characters, including those working in Mechanical to people who work alongside Bernard, the head of IT. Starring Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins, Common, Avi Nash, and Harriet Walter, Silo is a fascinating science fiction show.
Fans are hoping that season 3 will present the series of events that led to the destruction of the world and creation of the silos; the second book in Howey's trilogy, Shift, does indeed explore the origins of this world, so it would make sense for the show to follow suit. The good news is that season 2's cinematographer Baz Irvine revealed in an interview with ScreenRant that season 3 has wrapped filming. Even better news? Filming for season 4, the final season of the series, is about to begin.
Season 3 does not have a release date, but many predict its arrival sometime next year. If Apple is already working on season 4, it hopefully means fans won't have to wait too long between seasons, something that has become a problem with other big sci-fi and fantasy shows these days.
