We finally know who will be playing the rest of the Weasley family in HBO's Harry Potter series. Well, most of them anyway!
After production started earlier this summer, Warner Bros. just revealed the actors playing Fred, George, and Ginny Weasley, and Percy, too, unfortunately, in the Harry Potter show. Tristan and Gabriel Harland will play Fred and George Weasley, respectively. They'll be joined by Gracie Cochrane, who will be playing their little sister, Ginny, while Ruari Spooner will be playing their do-gooder, older brother, Percy.
That rounds out most of the Weasley family! Alastair Stout, who plays Ron Weasley, was one of the first big casting announcements earlier this year. He's also the photographer of the selfie shared on Instagram announcing the Weasley family. Katherine Parkinson will be playing the mother, Molly.
For those keeping track at home, we're still waiting for three Weasleys to be cast, including Arthur, Ron's dad. He's the most important character yet to be cast, but he doesn't have much of a role until Harry visits the Burrow in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which will be the second season of the series. Remember, the whole flying car thing? That leaves the oldest brothers, Bill and Charlie, to be cast. In the Instagram post, it was revealed that Charlie will be cast soon. He could have a role in rescuing Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback from Hogwarts in the first season of the series.
Overall, of the new Weasleys, it looks like most of them are very new to acting as a career. The Harlands had the biggest credits. They both appeared in Netflix's The Last Kingdom.
As outlets and fans have been tracking production updates, it appears that the cast and crew are getting closer to the big send-off for Harry Potter (Dominic McLaughlin) at King's Cross station for his first trip to Hogwarts. Who happens to meet Harry at the train station and help him get onto Platform 9 3/4? Well, that would be the Weasley family, of course!
Harry Potter fans know how important the Weasley family is to this story. These characters, along with Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton) and later Sirius Black, are Harry's real home. If the series didn't get these castings right, there could be major problems.
We'll share more Weasley castings when we find out! I have a feeling Arthur and Charlie will be announced very soon. With Bill, we'll probably have to wait for a few years, but we'll see!
