Tonight marks the finale of The Penguin, the latest hit show for HBO. The network is taking the opportunity to show off some of what it has coming over the next year. Check out their brand new sizzle reel:
There's quite a lot of good TV coming round the bend, including lots in the sci-fi and fantasy space. On November 17, the network premieres its Dune spinoff show Dune: Prophecy, which we've seen ahead of time and can assure you is good. And next year, we've got stuff like the second season of The Last of Us, another season of the cheerfully vulgar DC show Peacemaker, plus brand new shows like IT: Welcome to Derry and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is a new Game of Thrones spinoff.
We get new footage from IT: Welcome to Derry and from Peacemaker, but the footage from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and from The Last of Us season 2 is stuff we've seen before. Doesn't mean we can't be psyched for it. HBO has maintained a high batting average lately, so I'm excited to see what it has on the way.
And we can spare some kind words for the non-sci-fi/fantasy shows on the way as well. The comedic satire The White Lotus has become a big hit for HBO, and it looks like the third season will be add favorite actors like Fallout's Walton Goggins to the mix. And while the period drama The Gilded Age may not strictly be a fantasy show, it might as well be set in another world, as the ultra-rich in 1880s parade around in impossibly opulent costumes trying to make the perfect match.
Congrats to HBO on a successful season of The Penguin, and may the next crop of shows be just as entertaining.
