The third season of House of the Dragon is filming as we speak. Sets are on the rise. The X account @UnBoxPHD is bringing us all kinds of nice images; I just hope no one looks up and sees the drone taking pictures.

It's hard to know exactly what set we're looking at above. We can always be sure a new season of House of the Dragon will have scenes set in King's Landing, where Aegon II Targaryen currently sits the Iron Throne...or did until he fled the city in fear of his brother Aemond. We'll also be visiting the town of Tumbleton in season 3. And who knows where else?
Obviously we'll spend more time in the Red Keep, where the Targaryen hatch plots, make decisions and indulge their passion for incest. This picture contains both the Red Keep gate and the godswood, together with a line of green leafy trees. Maybe a scheme has been planned walking the gardens of the Red Keep:

Finally, it looks like the crew is building a facade for the Great Sept, the church where Alicent Hightower goes to pray whenever she needs to think about something. That's interesting, because up to this point House of the Dragon had used outdoor environments in the city of Cáceres, Spain to stand in for the outside of the Great Sept. It looks like they're going to keep that in-house now, on the studio lot at Leavesden Studios in London:

The sept staircase and square from Cáceres are now being rebuilt in the Leavesden backlot.
This confirms that the production is NOT returning to Cáceres. pic.twitter.com/U6AyzjfR0M
Filming on House of the Dragon season 3 will continue for months; they're just getting started. It'll be over before the end of the year, but don't expect to see any new episodes until sometime in 2026. In the meanwhile, HBO will premiere a new Game of Thrones prequel series called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms sometime later this year. And although it's not set in the Seven Kingdoms, the second season of The Last of Us is airing on HBO right now; that may tide over fans looking for something epic to watch.
