Given her wide range of novels before her passing in 2021, it’s no wonder Anne Rice’s works are ripe for adaptation. AMC hit on that with Interview With The Vampire, modernizing Rice’s most famous book about the twisted history of vampires Lestat (Sam Reid) and Louis (Jacob Anderson). It’s now back in its third season, re-titled The Vampire Lestat.
AMC has expanded on that with Mayfair Witches, starring Alexandra Daddario, with a third season coming. There was also Talamasca: The Secret Order, which explored the supernatural-hunting organization mentioned in both of the previous shows. However, that series failed to land with audiences, and was canceled after one season.
Speaking to Collider, Interview With The Vampire executive producer Mark Johnson shared an update on the future of the Immortal Universe, and how AMC isn’t giving up on expanding it even further.
"We're very lucky in that AMC has not given us a mandate. It's not like we need four shows, and these are the dates on them. It's much more natural and organic. Most importantly, given that we're having this conversation, we want desperately and are doing our utmost to think about a Season 4 of the show we're talking about right now. I have to believe it's inevitable. What do I know? But there's no way we can't continue this, this saga, we can't continue Lestat and Louis... We have two or three that probably I shouldn't announce quite right now, but we are robustly developing, and hopefully we'll have, before you know it, a third show and hopefully a fourth."
So it sounds like we’re getting more Immortal Universe entries, but what could they be?

What Immortal Universe spinoffs could AMC produce?
The most logical spinoff potential is on characters from Interview With The Vampire and Mayfair Witches. Many fans might enjoy a series about the life of vampire Armand (Assad Zaman), given his centuries of exploits, while a Mayfair spinoff could look at other witches.
There are also a few other Rice works that could fit into this universe. The best choice would be her Ramses the Damned trilogy, which casts Ramses and Cleopatra as immortal lovers. It would be easy to update it for the 21st century with all the darkness, passion, and power to connect with IWTV.
An offbeat possibility is the Songs of the Seraphim books, about an assassin contracted by angels to go through time to battle evil. That would mix some sci-fi into supernatural action. The Wolf Gift Chronicles is tailor-made to bring werewolves into this universe; they follow a journalist bitten by a wolf who is hunted by a secret order. Even Rice's standalone novel Violin, revolving around ghosts, can fit in here.
All those above works could be series of their own and bring in new characters with only their first books. That leaves open the chances of further spinoffs based on those characters, which could keep this universe going for a while.
In short, there’s plenty of material from Rice that can expand on this franchise, presenting entertaining shows while connecting to the previous series. It may take a while to come to fruition, but much like many of her characters, it appears Rice’s legacy in horror circles is truly immortal.
The Vampire Lestat airs Sundays on AMC and AMC+.
