While Invincible may well be one of the best superhero shows on TV today, one thing that's become quite annoying for fans is its release schedule. Since it's an animated show, it naturally takes longer to make. For instance, there was a two-year wait between seasons 1 and 2. And season was aired in chunks of four episodes dropped months apart.

However, with season 3 (which is fantastic, by the way), the show went back to its original format: airing each episode weekly with no mid-season breaks. Hooray! Looking ahead to the show's future, creator Robert Kirkman believes the production is streamlined enough to eliminate long droughts between seasons. "I think that the release schedule that we’re in is much more what we can expect going forward as opposed to the release schedule that we were in between Season 1 and 2," he told Discussing Film.

Kirkman went on to explain that the creative team is working around the clock to ensure deadlines are being met. "We’re working at a breakneck pace behind the scenes with Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan and the entire team to keep this factory moving and keep this show in production so that we can come out in a fairly regular clip."

The goal is crystal clear now. Kirkman wants the crew to reach the one-season-per-year target: "I can’t guarantee that we’ll be coming back in early February every single year, but I can say that is the goal." Let's hope they hit that target!

Invincible could run for up to 10 seasons!

Invincible is based on a series of comic books written by Kirkman himself. They're all wrapped up, so the show has a definitive ending to work towards. As for what the final season count may look like, Robert Kirkman thinks around eight seasons would be enough, although there's some wiggle room there. "The way [Invincible showrunner Simon Racioppa] and I have mapped out, where we would kinda follow the comic and where the breaks would be, roughly eight seasons. Could be seven, could be ten," Kirkman told Collider.

New episodes of Invincible season 3 drop every Thursday on Prime Video. There are four episodes left before the season ends on March 13. The latest episode spent a lot of time with Mark's father Omni-Man, who dropped some important new knowledge about the threat of the Viltrumite empire.
