Prime Video's superhero series Invincible is close to introducing one of the universe's most powerful beings: the brutal, super-strong Viltrumite known as Conquest, voiced by the one and only Jonathan Banks.

So far in Invincible, Mark Grayson has tested his powers against some formidable foes, from the mastermind Angstrom Levy to his own father, the Viltrumite powerhouse Omni-Man. He's been beaten up an unimaginable amount of times, but he almost always comes out on top. He's still standing...I mean he is Invincible, after all.

However, fans of the comics know that Mark's future holds plenty more broken bones and black eyes. A lot of those will come courtesy of Viltrumite veteran warrior Conquest, who we now know is voiced by former Breaking Bad star Jonathan Banks. While creator Robert Kirkman holds back teasing Conquest's arrival too much, he assures viewers that he'll make a gargantuan impression. "I think you could use the word 'disruptive,'" he told Radio Times.

Conquest's arrival being season 3's endgame seems pretty obvious, especially given the direction of the comics. With that said, Kirkman tries his hardest to taper expectations. "But you say this name 'Conquest' – I can't guarantee that character even shows up in this season." Personally, as a long-time fan of Kirkman, I've heard him say things like this enough times to know he's hiding something. I think Conquest will definitely show up at some point of season 3, even if it's a cameo in the finale.

Another key character fans hope to see soon is Viltrumite leader Grand Regent Thragg. This character hasn't made an appearance yet, nor has any voice actor been cast. Even so, fans are convinced Jeffrey Dean Morgan will voice the character, since he posted on Instagram that he was reading the comics some time ago. Plus, Morgan has plenty of experience working on adaptations of Kirkman's comics, having played Negan in The Walking Dead. Morgan and Thragg seem like a perfect match!

Invincible creator isn't worried about "superhero fatigue"

It's been nearly 20 years since Iron Man came out in theaters and jump-started the superhero revolution. This far in, are people still interested in superheroes?

Well, the reviews for Invincible season 3 have been outstanding, so it looks like there's still interest. Kirkman had a nuanced take on the topic at the Los Angeles premiere of season 3. “I don’t think superhero fatigue is a real thing, but I do think that the genre of superhero storytelling has become so ubiquitous that it’s gotten to a point where it’s not fresh and it’s not new,” he told Variety. “You can’t just be a superhero show and not have anything special about you anymore because I think the novelty has worn off. But that’s really exciting to me, because now it means that everyone is so familiar with superheroes that you can push things in interesting directions.”

One thing that helps set Invincible apart is that it always seems to be changing and expanding. Mark Grayson started the show out as a headstrong teen who admired his dad, and now finds himself on the opposite end of that admiration courtesy of his younger half-brother Oliver. The show is always introducing new characters, but because they're all part of the same show, it doesn't feel as disparate as, say, the Marvel Cinematic universe. “I love how everything that happens on the show continues to reverberate for episodes and seasons to come,” said Gillian Jacobs, who plays Atom Eve. “It really feels like a world in which whatever these characters do, there’s consequences to it and they’re really grappling with it.”

The opening three episodes ofInvincible season 3 are now streaming on Prime Video, with new installments dropping every Thursday.
