Jon Snow was one of the most popular characters to come out of Game of Thrones, which is saying something because that show had a ton of popular characters. For eight seasons, Jon was played by Kit Harington, but in the final two seasons, actor Connan Aaron worked as his stand-in for some scenes.

Now, Connan Aaron is getting a chance to have a proper role in Westeros. According to Redanian Intelligence, he'll appear in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as Gowen Baratheon:

Gowen Baratheon is a very minor character; he was the third son of the lord of Storm's End and married to Lady Tya Lannister. Interestingly, this was the last Lannister-Baratheon marriage before Robert Baratheon and Cersei Lannister married many decades later. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set decades before the events of Game of Thrones and decades after the events of House of the Dragon. The first season will revolve around the newly minted knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his precocious squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) attending a tournament in the Reach. Gowen Baratheon should turn up there, along with a long list of other lords and ladies.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms cast list

In fact, for a season that will only last six episodes and be far less sprawling than either of its two sister shows, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has a big cast. Here's the run-down with our newest addition included:

  • Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg
  • Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree

  • Mark O’Connor as musician
  • Abigail O'Regan as unknown

It's cool that Connan Aaron will be able to do something a little more substantive in the Game of Thrones universe. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is coming out on HBO later this year, although we don't have an exact date yet.
