Marvel President Kevin Feige is the chief architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And with the MCU evolving into a new era, introducing some of the most beloved Marvel heroes and villains of all time, Feige's been rhapsodizing about what's to come, specifically about the introduction of one of Marvel's most iconic teams: the Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four have been teased throughout the MCU a few times before. John Krasinski made a surprising cameo as Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and more recently Chris Evans reprised his role as Johnny Storm in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Neither Krasinski nor Evans will be part of the MCU's 'main' Fantastic Four team, however. That duty falls to Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing). They will debut in Fantastic Four: First Steps in Summer 2025, the beginning of the MCU's Phase 6.

Appearing onscreen at the Disney APAC Content Showcase, Kevin Feige celebrated the forthcoming movie, adding that filming wraps very soon. “Finally, bringing Marvel’s First Family into the MCU,” Feige said. “They wrap next week, the movie comes out next summer, and then all those characters go right into the next Avengers movies, so I’m very excited for the future of the Fantastic Four.”

Avengers: Secret Wars will be the catalyst for mutants in the MCU

Feige also discussed the slow and steady introduction of mutants into the franchise. Of course, we've seen beloved mutants appear throughout the MCU, but we haven't seen a live-action X-Men team assembled as of yet. As for when we can expect mutants to take over, Feige cites the upcoming Avengers movie Secret Wars as the key turning point.

"I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back."

Secret Wars is currently set for release on May 6, 2027. Before that, the Avengers will assemble in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026. After over two decades of Hugh Jackman making the part his own, someone new is going to play Wolverine, and we'll all very curious to find out who it will be.
