The adventure is calling. In less than a month, players will be able to return to the Kingdom of Hyrule and relive one of the highest-rated games ever made: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Ever since the remake was officially unveiled, fans have had the same question in mind: Will there be any new features? After all, the original Nintendo 64 title had a lot of cut content, including entire dungeons, usable magic medallions, and the ability to obtain the Triforce. Fortunately, the answer is a clear "yes," even though Nintendo's first trailer didn't initially seem to change the game in major ways,
The debut trailer forThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time revealed that Link will now have a dedicated jump button, and players will be able to use the Nintendo Switch 2's integrated microphone to hum songs into the ocarina. Moreover, the Zelda Notes app will track the progress of different game sessions and test our knowledge of the franchise with quizzes. However, these additions are more like quality-of-life improvements rather than fully fleshed-out new content. However, we now know that Nintendo made sure to include one big feature in the remake that could add a lot of replay value.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will have a "Hall of Fallen Foes" where players will be able to replay bosses
Nintendo released a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake in anticipation of the game's release on November 5, 2026. The footage reveals that somewhere hidden in Hyrule, players will be able to find the "Hall of Fallen Foes." This mysterious new place will feature statues of monsters players have already defeated in their adventures. Each statue has a description that unveils more about the enemies' backstories and locations they tend to frequent. But perhaps the biggest addition is the ability to "rematch" bosses.
For the time being, it appears the only mechanical purpose of replaying a boss will be to get a better record time. However, it's worth pointing out that games like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword had a boss rush mode that rewarded players with various prizes that ranged from 20 Rupees to a completely new, sturdy shield. While it remains unconfirmed, there's a slight chance a similar scenario will be included yet again. Granted, it's unlikely the rewards would be as big as a completely new shield, but heart pieces and rupees could still be a solid choice.
In addition to the new trailer, the first previews for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake are finally here, and they reveal the game is not a complete 1-to-1 adaptation of the original Nintendo 64 title. Some areas have been redesigned (including the room where Link obtains his first sword), and new elements have been added to existing environments. There are also new cutscenes, more character dialogue, and redesigned puzzles.
In their preview, IGN revealed that most changes aren't necessarily about scope, but rather depth. As such, it's unlikely we'll see entire cut dungeons suddenly added back into the mix. However, the new features aim to enhance the original experience of playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
YouTuber Zeltik also played the game before its official release. During their preview video, they explained that there are new side quests, items, and story details. These could potentially be some of the biggest changes included in the remake, in addition to the Hall of Fallen Foes. Moreover, new VFX elements such as ambient fog appear in many areas throughout the game.
The previews also reveal that Hyrule Field will have more secrets to uncover, with "Fairy marks" being one of them. These are shiny marks left by other fairies, giving players hints about different game mechanics. Last but certainly not least, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will run at 60fps, which will make the gameplay experience much smoother.
Fortunately, we're less than a month away from discovering all the new surprises that Nintendo has in store for us. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will be released on November 5, 2026, on the Nintendo Switch 2.
