Lego just announced its biggest Lord of the Rings set yet, and it's perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's book series or Peter Jackson's movie series.
On June 1, Lego will release The White City of Minas Tirith in honor of the 25th anniversary of the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which was released in theaters in 2001.
The Minas Tirith set is the biggest Lord of the Rings set Lego has ever released. It contains a whopping 8,278 pieces, including figurines of Gandalf the White, Aragorn, son of Arathorn, King Elessar, Faramir, Arwen, Pippin, Aragorn's crown, soldiers of Gondor, and Lord Denethor. All that's missing is the Witch-king of Angmar, but that's for another time.

The Lord of the Rings' Minas Tirith set retails for $649.99, and it's only available for Lego Insiders on June 1. The general public will have to wait until June 4 to get their hands on this epic set from Lego, assuming supplies last.
We've seen some epic Lord of the Rings sets before, including the Shire and Rivendell, but we've never seen anything quite like this. The design is stunning, and it has to be a great time building something so legendary. It honestly looks like it's straight out of The Return of the King.
For those who don't recall, Minas Tirith is the setting of The Battle of the Pelennor Fields, the epic battle between the forces of Gondor, Mordor, and later Rohan. Gandalf and Pippin flee to Minas Tirith to warn Denethor of the incoming attack by Mordor's forces.
The Riders of Rohan, led by King Theoden, and Aragorn's undead army arrive just in time to save the White City from falling.
After Sam and Frodo destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, the Fellowship reunites in the White City and sticks around for the coronation of King Aragorn, as he accepts his rightful place as the King of Gondor with Queen Arwen.

It's also one of the most emotional moments of the trilogy when, during the coronation, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry try to bow to the new king. Aragorn stops them and says, "My friends, you bow to no one." And, then everyone bows to them.
Look, I don't know how I'm going to do it because $650 is a lot in this economy, but I'm going to have to get my hands on this Minas Tirith set from Lego one way or another.
Stay tuned for more news about the Minas Tirith set and more Lord of the Rings sets from Lego.
