We don't have a title or a release date or any story details, but we do have confirmation.

Black Panther remains one of the most successful movies to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having grossed over $1.3 billion at the box office and earning several Oscar nominations. The sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, also did pretty well, bringing in $850 million despite challenges behind the scenes, namely the death of Chadwick Boseman, the start of the original movie.

Naturally, Disney will returning to the fictional African nation of Wakanda for a third entry in the superhero saga, but I'm not sure we were supposed to know about it this soon. Actor Denzel Washington got the ball rolling when he was doing press for Gladiator 2 and said that Black Panther writer-director Ryan Coogler was writing a part for him in "the next Black Panther." Now, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has confirmed the movie's existence.

Although he did it in something of a roundabout way. Feige was talking about exodus of Disney executive Nate Moore, who worked on the first two Black Panther movies, from the company. Moore complimented Moore and reminded fans that he'll still be around to work on "our next Black Panther movie," according to Deadline.

Nate Moore himself also weighed in, clearing up any doubt: “I feel lucky to have worked with a group of people who love filmmaking and storytelling as much as my Marvel colleagues and the cast and crew of our films," he said. "But I couldn’t be more excited to apply my experience and passion for film towards theatrical movies in all genres, including returning to the world of Wakanda forBlack Panther 3.”

So there you go, consider that confirmation that Black Panther 3 is on the way, although we don't have any story details yet, nor do we know a release date, nor even a title. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ended with Shuri (Letitia Wright), the new Black Panther after the death of her brother T'Challa, making peace with Namor (Tenoch Huerta), who rules the underwater kingdom of Talokan. They pledge to protect each other's countries from outside invaders, so a third film will probably pick up there.

While we wait for word on all of that, Marvel will be keeping the memory of Wakanda alive with a new animated TV series called Eyes of Wakanda, which is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 6, 2025.
