Michael Sheen brought his own disguise for final "season" of Good Omens

The third and final "season" of Good Omens — really a 90-minute episode — has wrapped filming, and Michael Sheen is giving us a little preview.

The second season of Good Omens on Prime Video ended with the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) heading back to heaven to take on the important job of planning for the Second Coming. That meant breaking things off with his eternal life partner Crowley (David Tennant), who'd been cast out of heaven a long time ago and wasn't willing to go back.

Originally, we were going to get a whole third and final season to wrap up this story. But then author Neil Gaiman, who co-wrote the original book and was intimately involved with the show, was hit with a huge scandal and that third season was shrunk down to just one 90-minute episode. And now it's finished filming.

That information comes straight from the mouth of Michael Sheen, who talked a bit about Good Omens on the Scarred for Life podcast. Although he came at it from a weird angle. He was actually talking about how he recently bought a prosthetic nose once worn by legendary actor Laurence Olivier, and how he wore the nose as Azirphale in Good Omens season 3.

"I went online and went on this auction. I am now the owner of the nose that [Laurence] Olivier wore as Richard III in that film," Sheen said. "That thing that haunted me from being a child, I now have it, and not only that, I have worn it in something. It was a bit in the last part of Good Omens that I've just finished filming, where my character has to be in disguise and I wear Olivier's nose from Richard III."

I wonder about the progression of events here. Like, did they write a scene where Azirphale is in disguise, and that inspired Sheen to go nose-shopping? Or did Sheen come on set being like, 'Look at this awesome nose I bought, everyone!' and then the writers were like, 'We should do something with that.'

In any case, Olivier wore the nose in the 1955 film Richard III, which he also directed. He was a major Shakespeare buff, was Laurence Olivier.

As for Good Omens season 3, we still don't know when it's going to come out, nor do we know why Sheen needs to wear a fake nose during it, although it sounds like something he would do and be overly enthusiastic about.
