After what has felt like an eternity for Outlander fans in the U.S., Netflix has finally unveiled the long-awaited release date for season 7, part 1, and it's time to get excited. While international viewers may have already binged these episodes, U.S. audiences have been left waiting in true Droughtlander fashion for the new season to come to Netflix. For two whole years, to be exact.
Thankfully, that wait is almost over. Netflix has confirmed exactly when the next chapter of Claire and Jamie’s journey will arrive, and while it’s good news for now, there’s a bittersweet twist. The second half of season 7, and the final season beyond that, will require even more patience.
Drum roll, please! You can mark your calendar for Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, because that's when Outlander season 7 part 1 is slated to make its way to Netflix in the U.S. It's not exactly clear what time the new season will drop on the streaming platform, but there's a chance it could be released at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on this date. That's when Netflix usually releases new content on its platform.

The complete seventh season is made up of 16 episodes. However, only the first eight episodes make up the first half of the season and will be available on Netflix U.S. starting Aug. 11. Outlander season 7 part 2, which comprises the remaining eight episodes, is expected to arrive on Netflix on Jan. 17, 2027.
However, keep in mind that this is a predicted release date for part 2. It's expected to land on the streaming platform on this date because Netflix in the U.S. typically adds new seasons (in this case parts) of Outlander two years after they finish airing on Starz. Since part 2 of season 7 concluded on Jan. 17, 2025, fans are looking at a likely Netflix release exactly two years later on Jan. 17, 2027. While this timeline hasn’t been officially confirmed by Netflix, it lines up with the pattern the streaming giant has followed for previous seasons.
Outlander season 8, also known as the final season, is expected to start airing on Starz in 2025. However, it likely won’t arrive on Netflix U.S. until sometime after 2027.
Ronald D. Moore created Outlander. It's a historical romantic fantasy series that's based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. The story centers on Claire Randall, a former WWII combat nurse who is suddenly swept back in time to 18th-century Scotland, where she finds herself torn between two dramatically different worlds and two powerful loves that span centuries. Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan star as the two main leads, Claire and Jamie.
You can stream the first six seasons of Outlander on Netflix right now.
