New Star Wars TV show is dropping a day early, repeating a Disney habit
By Dan Selcke
In just a few days, Disney will debut a new Star Wars TV show called Skeleton Crew on Disney+. This one is about a group of tweenagers who somehow find themselves far from home and in control of a spaceship. They have to learn to work as a team to pilot it and find their way back, with a mysterious character played by Jude Law lending an assist. It's Star Wars, but with a Goonies or Stranger Things layer added on top.
The first two episodes of Skeleton Crew were going to debut on Tuesday, December 3. But today, Disney revealed that those first two episodes will actually drop on Monday, December 2, at 9:00 p.m. EST, 8 CST. The subsequent six episodes will drop one at a time on Tuesdays.
Why is Disney releasing the first two episodes of Skeleton Crew early? I don't know, but this is becoming something of a habit for them. The exact same thing happened with Star Wars: Ahsoka back in 2023. Originally, the first two episodes of that show were due out on Wednesday, August 23, but a few days beforehand Disney moved them up to Tuesday, August 22.
It's cool for fans who will get to watch this show a little earlier than expected, but I don't know why Disney keeps changing things at a last minute. Is it that hard to plan a schedule ahead of time?
