Full production on the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon any day now, and we're getting more news about new additions to the cast. One of the latest comes from @HouseTheDragons on Twitter/X, which does a great job keeping tabs on new developments. Say hello to English actor Charlie Gordon:

Although he's obviously young, Gordon has already written and directed a number of short films in addition to doing a bunch of a theater, mostly as a dancer. He appeared a few years back in a movie version of Matilda: The Musical that ran on Netflix.

We don't know who Gordon is playing, but one name comes immediately to mind: Daeron Targaryen, the youngest son of Queen Alicent Hightower and her late husband King Viserys I Targaryen. At one point, fans wondered if this character would even appear in the show. He wasn't mention in the first season, but in the second Alicent talked about how he was away in the Hightower stronghold of Oldtown being fosters, which is consistent with his story in George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood. And at the end of the season, we see Daeron's dragon Tessarion the Blue Queen flying ahead of a Hightower army. A new players has entered the game.

So Daeron will be a factor in season 3, which means they're going to need to find someone to play him. Although it's unconfirmed, I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie Gordon was that actor. We may know more when the cameras start rolling later this month.

While we're talking about new cast members, @HouseTheDragons also reports that English actor Dean Fagan, best known for his role as Luke Britton in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, is joining the third season of House of the Dragon:

Although the bulk of the show's main characters have been introduced at this point, showrunner Ryan Condal has promised that a few "major new characters" will be added for season 3. One of those could definitely be Daeron. As for Dean Fagan, it's less clear what character we haven't already met that he might play, but we're eager to find out.

We won't know for certain until sometime in 2026, when new episodes of House of the Dragon will air on HBO and Max.
