Of course, The Boys is mocking the newest turn in the Epstein scandal

If there's one thing you can count on The Boys to do, it's go there. The superhero satire has been skewering corporate America, the superhero-industrial complex and the Trump era since it debuted on Prime Video in 2019, and we can expect more of that when its fifth and final season drops next year.

In fact, if you ever visit the Vought International Twitter account, you know that's already happening. (Vought is the fictional mega-corporation from The Boys that creates and manages superheroes.) The folks behind that account are always mocking the latest trending topics in the news, and just lately, a big trending topic has been the Trump administration's announcement that there's nothing further to report about serial sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, despite Donald Trump promising during his latest presidential campaign to release "the Epstein files," which would purportedly implicate lots of high-powered people in Epstein's criminality. Trump's base is not at all happy with this development, with lots of in-fighting happening at the moment in MAGA world.

Naturally, The Boys couldn't resist chiming in:

"Vought can confirm rumors of a superhero orgy known as Herogasm are FAKE NEWS," reads the fake press release. "Furthermore, there are no 'Herogasm Files.'" If you've watched the show, particularly the episode "Herogasm," you know that's not true.

Jensen Ackles teases Vought Rising

Like we said, the fifth and final season of The Boys will be out next year. I'm expecting to go for blood. After that, a prequel series will follow in the show's iconoclastic tradition. It's called Vought Rising, it's set in the 1950s, and it will follow the adventures of familiar characters like Solder Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), then young supes who are on their way to becoming the pitiless monsters we know from the main show.

"I'm excited to explore what that world looks like and feels like and sounds like, and see how those characters come to life in that setting," Ackles said at a Creation Entertainment event, per Collider. "I've been playing Soldier Boy in modern day, but I've been playing him like he's kind of an old guy. He's a grandpa from back in the day, so it'll be interesting to now play him with contemporaries." Ackles called the show a "coming-of-age story" for Soldier Boy. Seeing as we know how Soldier Boy turns out, it must have been a rough upbringing.

We don't know exactly when Vought Rising will be out, but I'd expect it sometime in late 2027 or early 2027. First, Amazon will want to roll out the carpet for the end of the original show. And if that's still not enough for you, the college-set spinoff show Gen V will premiere on September 17 on Prime Video.
