Peacemaker season 2 had the chance to bring in another DCU character into the fold, but it refused to pay homage to a specific element of another recent James Gunn project set within the same canon. While the show's second run was largely well-received, the finale received mixed reviews from both critics and fans. Regardless, it stuck to its guns and told the story it set out to tell.
John Cena's character and other members of the Peacemaker cast explored the DCU multiverse pretty thoroughly in season 2, giving viewers a lot to get excited about as a variety of other worlds appeared on-screen for the first time. One of those realities in particular made me think I was about to see one of my favorite new DCU characters show up for a cameo appearance, but it just didn't happen.

Creature Commandos' G.I. Robot would have had a field day on Earth-X
Voiced by Sean Gunn, G.I. Robot's primary goal was immediately made clear during his 2024 debut in Creature Commandos season 1. In short, all he really cares about is killing Nazis. With his programming not being updated since he was deployed in WWII, it makes sense that he would have no other real motivations. The problem is that he finds it trickier to find Nazis to gun down in the modern day, meaning his handlers and allies often need to lie to him about his opponents' political allegiances to get him to carry out orders.
In Peacemaker season 2, the universe that Cena's character initially thinks is a utopian version of his own reality turns out to be a world where the Nazis won WWII. As such, almost everyone who lives on Earth-X, at least in its version of America, has incredibly problematic beliefs that align with Nazi values. Putting G.I. Robot in that reality would surely have resulted in him gleefully fulfilling his primary objective in the most extreme way since he helped overthrow the Nazis in WWII.

I understand why Gunn didn't use G.I. Robot in Peacemaker season 2
Even though it feels like a wasted opportunity not to allow G.I. Robot a visit to Earth-X in Peacemaker, Gunn's decision not to do so also makes sense. First of all, the live-action debut of a previously-animated character is often a landmark occasion. So, G.I. Robot showing up in Peacemaker would have stolen focus from the story that was already unfolding. Plus, his presence would probably have ended things pretty swiftly. He's very good at killing Nazis, after all.
Furthermore, Peacemaker is a far more high-profile show than Creature Commandos, which means there's no guarantee that those watching the Cena-led show would have even seen the animated project. Getting the audience up to speed on G.I. Robot's backstory would have burned valuable time that was being spent on other things.
Besides, there is still plenty of time for G.I. Robot to visit Earth-X. He ends Creature Commandos season 1 with a significant hardware upgrade, and the planet populated so heavily with Nazis could easily be accessed again via the Quantum Unfolding Chamber as it inevitably starts to bleed into upcoming DCU projects. Although Gunn has confirmed in an interview with IGN that he is done with Peacemaker for now, he has also said that other elements of the show will return later in the franchise.
