There's finally some good news to share with Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans who have been waiting for a release date. Disney+ previously revealed that the hit series based on Rick Riordan's best-selling books would arrive in December 2025, and when the release date was announced at San Diego Comic-Con, that's exactly when the highly anticipated new season arrives.
As the Percy Jackson cast and crew gathered for their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, creator Rick Riordan revealed the exciting news: Percy Jackson season 2 premieres Wednesday, Dec. 10 on Disney+. The streamer hasn't yet shared the release cadence for season 2, but the eight-episode first season arrived with two episodes before dropping one episode weekly.
Percy Jackson season 2 release date and teaser trailer
Along with the release date announcement, Disney+ shared the teaser trailer for Percy Jackson season 2, which gives fans their first look at Tyson, who's played by Daniel Diemer. Other highlights in the teaser include a glimpse at Lin-Manuel Miranda, chilling and thrilling teases at jump scares, monsters, and sweeping battles, and the eagerly awaited chariot race.
In addition to sharing the release date and the teaser trailer, the show's official Instagram account also released the first official poster for Percy Jackson season 2. Percy (Walker Scobell) is seen front and center with his golden sword as he's flanked by Annabeth (Leah Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) as they stand in the water with a monster behind them. It's fitting since the season is based on The Sea of Monsters.
Because Percy Jackson and the Olympians has already scored an early renewal for season 3, Riordan shared a bit of exciting news for next season after giving fans the release date they have been waiting for. Season 3 will begin production soon and has officially cast a pair of fan-favorite characters who will appear in the upcoming season based on The Titan's Curse: Levi Chrisopulos will play Nico di Angelo and Olive Abercrombie will play Bianca di Angelo.
As filming begins on season 3 in the coming weeks ahead, there will surely be lots more news and updates to share with fans. Hopefully, there will be a much shorter wait in between seasons 2 and 3 compared to the two-year wait for season 2. Let's keep our fingers crossed that season 3 will make its premiere on Disney+ around the same time as season 2 (or even sooner!) in 2026. Until then, it's time to get excited to join Percy and his friends on the Sea of Monsters!
