Vikings is one of the most similar shows to The Last Kingdom on this list. It takes place around the same time and features some of the same historical figures, although The Last Kingdom is set a hundred years or so later than Vikings.
Vikings tells the story of famed Viking and king Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, during the 13th century. Ragnar hails from Scandinavia, but as we know from The Last Kingdom, he didn’t stay. Ragnar led a group of Danes in war against the Saxons in what is now the United Kingdom.
The series premiered on The History Channel in March 2013 and ran for six seasons through December 2020. Netflix actually ordered a spinoff of Vikings, titled Vikings: Valhalla, which you’ll also find a little bit lower on the list.
You can watch Vikings on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Peacock. It’s a really good series. If you’re looking for a new show to watch, we highly recommend watching Vikings on one of those streaming platforms. You’ll find it has a similar feel and tone to The Last Kingdom.
