After nine brutal episodes, the historical drama series Shōgun will end with "A Dream of a Dream." Here's what you need to know about it:
- Show: Shōgun
- Episode Title: "A Dream of a Dream"
- Streaming network: Hulu
- Linear network: FX
- When does it air? On April 23, 2024, at 12:00 midnight EST on Hulu, 10:00 p.m. EST on FX
So there you go. The series finale of Shōgun will first be available on Hulu, and will then air linearally on FX hours later. And that will mark the end of the story of Anjin John Blackthorne, Lord Yoshi Toranaga, and all the other characters.
Will there be a Shōgun season 2?
Shōgun is based on a 1975 novel by author James Clavell. the TV adapts the entirety of the book, so unless the producers have some huge, unexpected surprise in store, there will not be a second season of Shōgun. "A Dream of a Dream" will mark the end of the series.
However, given how popular the show has proved, I wouldn't be shocked if the folks at FX and Hulu decided to look at some of Clavell's other novels and decide to adapt them. He doesn't return to these specific characters, but he did write several books in what came to be known as his "Asian Series," which all take place on the Asian subcontinent at different points in history.
