Agatha Harkness is trapped in a gritty HBO parody in first trailer for her new Marvel show

Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone bring their witchy star power to bear in the first trailer for Agatha All Along, premiering September 18.

Agatha Harkness was the villain of WandaVision, the first Marvel TV show to run on Disney+. As played by Kathryn Hahn, this wily witch was an instant hit. There's no forgetting that song:

Now, Agatha is getting her own TV show: Agatha All Along, where she'll unite a band of like-minded magic users to walk "the witch's path," whatever the means. Watch below!

WandaVision ended with lead character Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) defeating Agatha in a witch-vs-witch battle and cursing her to keep living out the life of a nosy TV neighbor, which she'd been doing as she tried to infiltrate Wanda's bizarre TV-themed alternate reality. (That show is even weirder in retrospect.) While Agatha will eventually break out of this curse and go on her own adventure, she'll spend at least some time continuing to rotate though different TV parodies, including a take on the prestige HBO crime show Mare of Easttown, where Kate Winslet played a detective solving a crime in a Pennsylvania suburb. You can tell that's what they're going for by the way the one guy pronounces the word "water." That's an awfully specific reference!

Once Agatha frees herself from this loop, she'll interact with characters played by likes of Aubrey Plaza and Patti LuPone, who would definitely be at the top of my list if I were casting witches, so well done. And maybe Elizabeth Olsen will show up for a cameo; TBD.

Agatha All Along will drop its first two episodes on Disney+ on September 18. The trailer keeps trying to pass this release date off as "Halloween season," which I think is a stretch, but as long as it's October by the time things come to a close, I'll let it slide.
