Prime Video has not canceled Good Omens season 3, but the show has been temporarily suspended after sexual assault allegations against creator Neil Gaiman came to light.

Last week, it was revealed that Disney had paused its live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book following the revelation that multiple women had accused the author of sexual assault. And now, in the same vein, Amazon Prime Video has hit the pause button on the third and final season of Good Omens.

The British author, 63, has faced several allegations of “non-consensual sex” and “sexual assault” in the last few months. In a July report from Tortoise Media, Gaiman was accused of sexually assaulting a then-20-year-old woman, who he'd met at the age of 18 at one of his book signings in 2003, and later a 23-year-old woman named Scarlett in 2022. In late July, another woman came forward on the Am I Broken: Survivor Stories podcast who claimed Gaiman had sexually assaulted her in 2012. Then at the beginning of August, two more women came forward on Tortoise Media's podcast.

Amid these allegations, it's clear that studios are concerned about the coming storm, and it seems they're working to get out of the Gaiman business as fast as possible, or at least, step back from it. Thanks to adaptations of his works such as Good Omens, American Gods and Coraline, Gaiman has become one of the best-known authors in Hollywood, who work has been regularly adapted for decades.

But now, that's starting to turn. The Graveyard Book has been indefinitely paused at Disney+. Netflix's Dead Boy Detectives, based on a spinoff of Gaiman's comic The Sandman, was also recently canceled, although that's most likely due to lackluster viewing figures. And now, Deadline reports that Good Omens 3 has been suspended.

Good Omens, based on a novel that Gaiman wrote with fantasy legend Terry Pratchett, was a hit on Prime Video. Starring Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demon Crowley, the show garnered a passionate fanbase. For its second and upcoming third season, the series went beyond the events of the book, with Gaiman writing a wholly new story. Season 2 ended with a pretty big cliffhanger, with a rift opening between unlikely lovers Aziraphale and Crowley. Season 3 is set to be the final season.

It's worth noting that Good Omens season 3 has not been axed, but it has been put on hold. But given that Gaiman is an executive producer, writer, and showrunner on the show, it makes sense that Prime Video would put it on pause. We'll keep you posted on how things develop.
